Costa Rica Jaguar Corridor Conservation Properties

FINCA OSA PANORAMA
Stunning views of the Osa
54 Acres / 22 Hectares
$265,000

This fabulous mountain property has to be seen to be believed. It's 54 acres of hilltop land include multiple flat platforms with phenomenal panoramic views of the entire Osa region stretching out endlessly before you.

Conservation

Finca Osa Panorama overlooks 4 major conservation areas. The Terraba-Sierpe Wetlands, the Osa Biological Corridor, the Reserva Forestal Gulfo Dulce and Piedras Blancas National Park can all be clearly seen from this property. It is located on a commanding hilltop that rises above one of the most biologically diverse regions on Earth.

The huge expanse of land to the south of the Pan-American highway that this property overlooks is a network of contiguous parks and reserves which combine to give the unique flora and fauna here some level of protection. But Finca Osa Panorama lies north of the Pan-American highway, located within a blank spot between all of these important conservation areas. The Path of Tapir Biological Corridor lies just to the west of it, and the Amistosa Biological Corridor lies just to the east.

The Jaguar Project is focusing its environmental efforts on this area because despite its important location as a key component in the Osa ecosystem, this small section of the Fila Costanera mountain range remains unprotected. It represents a weak link in Costa Rica's conservation network where reforestation and preservation programs are lacking. Jaguars and a host of other endangered species pass through here, but conservation programs are currently not in place.

This property's potential is so great that it has recently been zoned for multiple human habitations. The owner has divided the 54 hectares into 11 segments, each one earmarked for a separate individual development. The Jaguar Project's aim is to stop that imminent over-development from happening by passing this property into the hands of a new and environmentally conscious steward. We are looking for a new owner who will help us to reforest the lower levels of the land while creating an ecologically sustainable development in harmony with nature on the outrageously beautiful upper levels.

There are several acres of open land on the lower levels of the property that can be effectively reforested with an appropriate mix of endemic tree species that are beneficial to wildlife. The Jaguar Project can provide the expertise and the resources required in order to assist the new owner to achieve that goal.

Eco-Tourism Potential

The potential for Eco-tourism is enormous here. The outstanding views of the Osa region that this property provides presents the perfect platform on which to create an unforgettable experience with nature. The stunning location is exceptionally well-suited to sustainable Eco-tourism activities such as mountain hiking, bird-watching and horse-back riding.

The property's geographical location gives it easy access to multiple world-class Eco-tourism adventures. The small town of Sierpe with its popular mangrove tours and fast boat service to Corcovado National Park and Isla de CanĂ³ is only 30 minutes drive away. Piedras Blancas National Park is clearly visible from here at just half an hours distance. The Marino Ballena National Park is 45 minutes away, and the Gulfo Dulce and the many wonders of the Osa peninsula are only a hours journey. The possibilities for amazing ecological day-trips here are endless.

Access and Amenities

The property has no structures on it. It is entirely off-grid with no electricity and no water supply currently in place. But the location is ideally suited to solar power, and plentiful clean water can easily be supplied by creating a well.

It is less than 10-minutes drive downhill from the property to the nearest local shops and restaurants. From there it is 15 minutes drive along the Pan-American highway to reach the crossroads town of Palmar Norte where all of the necessary amenities such as banks and supermarkets can be found. San Jose is a 4-hour journey from here by car, or alternatively you can fly there in 40 minutes from the nearest airport at Palmar Sur which is located just 25 minutes drive away.
