HIDDEN VALLEY FARM
Private Ranch in the Heart of the Reventazon
50 Acres / 20 Hectares
$149,000
This beautiful secluded ranch sits in its own private valley with stunning views of Turrialba Volcano. The property includes two farm houses, a corral and a private lake that serves as an important watering hole for the abundant wildlife.
The simple rustic farmhouses are currently powered by a generator, and the property has its own abundant source of clean water. There are five acres of mature Chancho Blanco trees, and a further five acres of native forest that lead down to a sparkling stream.
The property has a small hill with breathtaking views of the Turrialba Volcano rising above the Reventazon River Valley. This hill is an ideal location for a small eco-retreat, a dream home or a bird-watching haven.
Location and Amenities
The farm is located just 30 minutes from the bustling market towns of Turrialba and Siquirres. It is 5 minutes drive off the picturesque Turrialba to Siquirres highway, and a good supermarket is only 10 minutes away.
The Reventazon Valley is surrounded by national parks and nature reserves including Barbilla National Park, Guayabo National Park, Turrialba Volcano National Park, Tapanti National Park, Rio Macho Forest Reserve, and the world famous Pacuare Forest Reserve. Just beyond Siquirres are the boundless wonders of the Caribbean Coast, including the gem of tropical biodiversity Tortuguero National Park.
Conservation and Reforestation
The Reventazon Valley is one of Costa Rica’s natural wonders, and this property is an integral part of the Barbilla-Destierro Biological Corridor. This corridor connects the Central Volcanic Cordillera with the Cordillera de Talamanca and has been identified as a vital migrational link for jaguars and many other endangered species.
The property is on offer as part of The Jaguar Project’s efforts to repair and reforest the Barbilla-Destierro jaguar corridor. 40 acres of open grassland are ripe for reforestation in order to provide habitat for endangered wildlife and strengthen the biological corridor.
The Jaguar Project offers free support to help secure Government financing to reforest this land. The Government’s FONAFIFO program pays local farmers to plant trees, and in this region some species of trees are even provided for free. Cacao grows well here, and we also offer technical expertise and advice on how to create a sustainable mixed cacao plantation that can act as viable habitat for a wide range of species, whilst also providing a financial return.
